5 of our Eagle Echoes had the opportunity to perform in and travel to Chicago recently.
4th graders Alexavier Hernandez and Jordain Miller, and 6th graders Lilly Franklin, Braeden Leahy, and Grace Wolf represented the Nest in the O.A.K.E. National Children’s and Youth Treble Choirs this past week. Our students rehearsed with other students from all over the country on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday to put on a spectacular concert Saturday afternoon in Chicago Symphony Hall.
It was a lot of focused work, but sight-seeing was able to happen during the evenings.
Highlights of the trip include staying in the Historic Palmer House, eating at the Hard Rock Cafe, shopping the Magnificent Mile, watching and dancing with the Borozda Hungarian Ensemble, eating famous Palmer House Brownies, touring Millenium Park and seeing the Cloud Gate (the Bean), eating Chicago style pizza at Giordano’s, adventuring onto the Sky Deck at Willis Tower, taking a public transportation bus to Navy Pier, eating Chicago style hot dogs, riding the Centennial Wheel, and swimming in the hotel pool.
Thank you to all who contributed to make this opportunity possible for these 5 young musicians!
