Excellence

From the Desk of Dr. Graham, Superintendent of the Purdy R-II School District

We have a lot to celebrate! Our district has experienced great academic growth from 2021-2022 to 2022-2023, evidenced by our district report card from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education under MSIP 6 (Missouri School Improvement Plan 6). This coupled with several facility improvements is a testament to the great things we are working to do. Do we have things perfect - absolutely not! BUT- we do have an unwavering passion to continue pursuing excellence everyday to serve our Eagles!

In 2022 our APR (Annual Progress Report) was reported as being a 70.3% (CLICK HERE FOR REPORT), revealing several areas of necessary growth. To that end the Board of Education, administration, and teachers alike committed to making drastic improvements. During the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 school years new curriculums were put in place for Math and Reading at the Elementary Level. Additionally, a focus was placed on classroom instruction and use of specific engagement strategies to connect content with students in a meaningful way ENGAGEMENT STRATEGIES and HOW TO USE ENGAGEMENT STRATEGIES.

In 2023 our APR (CLICK HERE FOR REPORT) improved by 10.2%!!! What an incredible mark of growth! Typically a school will experience a 2-3% increase or decline. We moved the needle by 10.2%! As we venture further into the spring semester, I wanted to take a moment to share with you our ongoing commitment to academic excellence and our preparations for the upcoming End-of-Course (EOC) and MAP testing that will be used to assess our 2024 APR.

First and foremost, I want to commend our students, teachers, staff, administration and parents for their unwavering dedication and hard work thus far. It's through our collective efforts that we continue to strive for excellence in education, making necessary adjustments to ensure we are providing every opportunity for our Eagles to excel.

As we approach the EOC and MAP testing season, I want to assure you that the Purdy R-II School District is fully committed to providing our students with the resources, support, and guidance they need to succeed. Our educators have been diligently preparing our students, ensuring that they are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel, not just on these assessments, but in every facet of life.

Furthermore, our district has implemented various strategies and initiatives aimed at enhancing academic achievement across all grade levels. From targeted intervention programs to enrichment activities, we are working hard to make improvements to meet the diverse needs of our students and foster a culture of lifelong learning. This requires innovative outside-of-the-box thinking!

Additionally, we recognize the importance of fostering a positive and supportive testing environment. Our faculty and staff are committed to creating a conducive atmosphere where students feel empowered to showcase their abilities and demonstrate their academic proficiency.

As partners in your child's education, I encourage you to continue supporting them as they prepare for these assessments. Whether it's providing encouragement, assisting with homework, or simply being there to lend a listening ear, your involvement plays a crucial role in their success.

In closing, I want to express my gratitude to the entire Purdy R-II School District community for your ongoing support and dedication to academic excellence. The landscape of our world is changing drastically. Our responsibility as a public school is to ensure our work contributes to our students growth to become productive citizens in the ever changing world. Together, we will continue to empower our students to reach their full potential and achieve success in all their endeavors.

PROUD TO BE AN EAGLE,

Travis Graham, Superintendent
